Whither
our ancient values?
Where
did it start, this media obsession with belittling others
rather than promoting ourselves? The most recent British
example has been The Apprentice [see above pictures - and
click on them for further information] and other examples
include such programmes as
Big Brother, Survivor and The Weakest Link.
What
do all of these have in common? They all encourage our
baser instincts; they purport to promote cooperation between
participants, but actually foster guile, deception and
