He is the author of Photography and Psychoanalysis: The Development of Emotional Persuasion in Image Making, and when not creating photographic images, is working on a book about Zen. Ruth Carneson
lives in
Muizenberg
on the False Bay side of Cape Town, South Africa. During the apartheid
regime, for 24 years from the age of 14, she lived in exile in Britain
where she obtained a BA Honours in Visual Arts. She
exhibited extensively in Britain as well as producing cards, calendars
and posters of her work, and also worked as a visiting artist in schools
where she used art as means of exploring human rights issues. Her
recent South African exhibition Back on Track, described in this issue,
marked her return to a career in art. She has also kindly agreed
to advise us on art. |

Mark Edwards lives in Exeter and works as a Primary Mental Health Worker in South Devon. He has a developing interest in working systemically and the focus of his work is with children and families. He runs a successful course for parents on Managing Challenging Behaviour. He has contributed the reviews of Exploiting Childhood and Mindful Therapeutic Care for Children |

Wayne Froggatt, is a graduate of the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. He has been in practice as a social worker for over 30 years. His current professional activities involve psychotherapy, supervision, training, stress management, organisational consulting and writing. Terry Goodwin, was a senior marketing executive at Finexport Ltd in London and Bangkok until his retirement in 1992, since when he has been in private practice as a marketing consultant. Terry has been the persona of our business editor since the inception of Nurturing Potential. Terry has contributed a book review of No One's World. |

Edit Kovacs comes from Hungary where she used to run an international service desk and is currently a business consultant specializing in Service Management based in England.. She has a Master’s degree (MA) in Sociology, is also experienced in Management of Change and is currently studying for a Psychology BSc in the Open University. Edit has contributed book reviews on Cosmopolitanism and Management Research. |

Sabine Kurjo McNeill studied mathematics and programming in West Germany and had her first job as a systems analyst and software diagnostician at CERN, the European Centre for Nuclear Research in Geneva. Her poem Only Connect (in our verse section) was written in 1984. In 1988 she published her book Only Connect, thus anticipating the social networking "revolution" by many years. Michael Mallows is an Honorary Fellow within the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. He developed the Crafty Listening approach to developing Emotional Intelligence. He coaches individuals and trains teams and groups in the voluntary, public and private sectors. Sep Meyer is a graduate of the London School of Economics and, since his retirement from a commercial life, has been devoting his time to writing poetry, magazine articles, book reviews and drama. Elizabeth Winder has worked in mental health in the UK for several years, earlier managing a mental health advocacy service in Oxfordshire, England. She worked on the European project Value , led by the European Patients’ Forum, and wrote the Value Toolkit for Patient Organisations on Meaningful patient Involvement – Patients Adding Value to Policy, Projects, and Services, with the input of patients and their organisations from around Europe. She is currently advising on a project to support Romanian mental health service users to set up advocacy services. She has contributed a book review. (Improving Mental Health Care)
