A
National Trust for the Future Run by Third Agers - by
Peter Laslett
We
should do for those who follow us what has been done for
us by those who preceded us.
Such
is the thesis of Peter Laslett, Director, Ageing Unit,
Cambridge History of Population and Social Structure,
Trinity College, Cambridge. Laslett was one of the
Founders of the University of the Third Age.
In
this article he proposes that Third Agers could take
over the role that in earlier centuries was the preserve
of the leisured classes and the nobility.
