Theories
of Learning - by Joe Sinclair
"He
who can does, he who cannot teaches". Joe
Sinclair reminds us of the (now-clichéd)
dictum of Bernard Shaw as self-justification for his
temerity in describing teaching methods to others with a
greater academic background than his own.
But
this is an exercise in journalism rather than
academy. Teachers are often immured within their
own specific discipline and may lack or shun exposure to
other methods, other theories, other concepts.
This
article is therefore an essay in broadening frontiers,
in a fairly superficial way, but providing links to
further study should any of the theories covered
"grab your fancy".
