I
Believe - by Joe Sinclair
What
are beliefs and what is a belief system? Starting
from the premise that beliefs are assumptions that we
adopt to help us make sense out of experience, Joe has
described aspects of his own belief system.
He
deals with his perception of the differences between
belief and faith, and then proceeds to contrast belief,
reality and reason - using, in large measure, arguments
from the eighteenth century philosopher David Hume both
to disparage and to validate his own belief in
"rational miracles".
This
is the first of a series wherein others will describe
their own beliefs.
