Sustainable Development and Business - by Terry Goodwin
A
definition of sustainable development in business might
be: to adopt business strategies that meet the
organisation’s traditional needs at the present time
while protecting, sustaining and enhancing the human and
natural resources that will be needed in the future.
Today,
more than ever before, organizations need to acknowledge
a changing business environment where an increasing
involvement in human resource planning and management is
an essential part of the overall strategic
decision-making process, while still keeping a weather
eye on their competitive advantage.
One
Earthquake - Infinite Awareness by Stephen J.M. Bray
“Working
as part of a group, committed to the same aim you
achieve more than you could have done on your own, also
you feel your team members have been your friend for
years even though you have met them very recently . . . We
talked about things I felt but couldn’t put in words.
I feel so much more relaxed as a result. This is
something I didn’t expect to experience.”
Thus,
in the words of one of the participants, the validation
of the study conducted by Stephen in the aftermath of
the earthquake that devastated parts of Turkey in 1999.
The
findings of the study were presented at the 16th
International Congress of the International Association
for Group Psychotherapy, 2003. As a result Stephen,
together with his Turkish born wife Irem, were presented
the The
Abdulkadir Ozbek Award - First Prize
given for excellence of scientific content and
presentation.
Sustainability
Lifestyles - by Ashley Phillips
The
Sustainable
Lifestyles Group project is an exciting innovative
large-scale community project created by two
environmental groups, the Southampton Sustainability
Forum and the Environment Centre which has been
funded by the Outer Shirley Regeneration Board in
Western Southampton.
Ashley
Phillips, whose brainchlld it is, here describes the way
Southampton is working holistically to deliver the
project in such a way that the elements as a whole will
have a much greater impact on the community than any
individual part.
