Verse

" I've written some poetry I don't understand myself"

- Carl Sandburg

Song of Hiawalpole - by Joe Sinclair

Nurturing Potential's editor has submitted an introduction to his long (some have said "tediously long") parody of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's classic Song of Hiawatha.

We have provided a link to the website containing the entire work - in case any of you are gluttons for punishment.

Me and My Shadow - by Laurie Phillips

Laurie had set himself the target last year of writing 3000 pieces of verse.  We have not heard whether he achieved his aim, but note that his latest submission is numbered 83, and assume that he has set himself a new target for this year.

The editors wish to make it clear that they are not literary critics and do not presume to judge the literary merit of any of the contributions received for this section.   Martial said: "He does not write at all whose poems no man reads."  And to Wilson Mizner is attributed "Poets are born, not paid".

Our contributors would be delighted to receive feedback on their verse, whether praising or damning, because all feedback is positive and the evidence that the work has been read will be payment enough.  Comments by e-mail please to poetry@nurturingpotential.net.  Better yet, send us some poetry of your own.
